The brief

We were invited by Cooks River Alliance to facilitate an open space technology session. They wanted to encourage changemakers to come up with prototypes and work together towards a river clean and loved by everyone. 

Approach

We used asset-based community development practices such as open space technology to help change-makers come up with prototypes. Using icebreakers, theatre and photo-voice we helped the develop relationships + connect to their mind, heart and will.

Young changemakers

Methods

Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre contracted me for 3 months to codesign a program/social enterprise with young people.

The brief

We formed a youth for impact team consisting of staff, students, young people and partner organisations. we did stakeholder engagement and asset mapping, we codesigned a discovery survey and tool for community conversations. we organised youth outreach, discovery workshops using arts and community conversations for various groups of young people in the local and Inner West area. We used arts for youth engagement. We proposed the idea of a social enterprise such as a youth led environmental cafe.

Approach

60 surveys, 6 community conversations, youth engagement, identification of 4 themes (priorities) from discovery sessions such as environment, social solidarity, work experience and sports and activities. Video coming out soon. Asset Based Community Development Training for 20 professionals. Proposal of the social enterprise environmental cafe idea.

Everyone has a story

Methods

The brief

This project was through a ‘Do it Differently’ Grant from Bayside Council and the local health district to deliver an asset based community driven project increasing health and wellbeing for community members.

Approach

8 workshops on storytelling, arts, guest speakers and theatre performance capturing the stories of diversity, resilience and hope of participants and showcasing it through an interactive theatre performance.
