Facilitating Under Pressure: Using Psychodrama to Access Presence, Spontaneity and Transformational Capacity

15 October 2026 | 10:45 am–12:15 pm
Geelong, Victoria | Facilitation in Action Conference

Facilitators are often trained in tools, techniques and frameworks. When groups become emotional, angry, polarised, grieving or stuck, our presence and capacity to respond creatively become essential.

This experiential workshop introduces key psychodramatic concepts, including warm-up, roles and spontaneity, and explores how they shape facilitation and group outcomes.

Through warm-up, enactment and sharing, participants will explore ways to stay present, embodied and responsive under pressure. The session also introduces sociodrama, showing how bringing social systems into action can reveal hidden dynamics and open possibilities for shared understanding and collective change.

Lens on Strengths: Youth, Belonging and Asset-Based Community Development

6 November 2026 | 10:00 am–4:00 pm
Impact Story Lab, Darlinghurst, Sydney NSW

Participants gathered together at a Lens on Strengths workshop
Participants at a previous Lens on Strengths workshop.

A one-day, hands-on workshop exploring how Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) can help us recognise young people’s strengths, mobilise community assets and build belonging and community-led action.

We begin by noticing what young people and communities already have: gifts, ideas, creativity, culture, connection to Country, relationships, clubs and associations, places and stories. Then we explore how to connect and mobilise these assets.

Bringing together ABCD, place-based practice, youth participation and strengths-based approaches, the workshop centres on one practical question:

What happens when we start with what young people and communities already have, and connect it?

The World We Create: Conflict, Power and Response-Ability

28 November 2026 | 2:00–5:00 pm
Crows Nest Centre, Sydney NSW

Hosted by the Psychodrama NSW/ACT AANZPA Regional Committee

Participants exploring roles and movement in a psychodrama workshop
A previous psychodrama workshop facilitated by Dimitrios.

What kind of world are we creating through the ways we relate, respond to conflict and navigate power in everyday life?

This experiential workshop invites people who care about safer, healthier and more connected relationships, groups, workplaces and communities to explore their patterns, choices and possibilities for change.

We will begin with activities drawing on Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) approaches, using affirmation, listening, communication and cooperation to build connection. We will then use psychodrama to explore experiences and questions from participants’ lives, guided by what emerges together.

Taking a strengths-based approach, we will look for the capacities already present within ourselves and our relationships: care, courage, empathy, honesty, creativity and the ability to make new choices.

The workshop welcomes people of all genders, cultural backgrounds and abilities. Together, we will explore our response-ability: our capacity to respond with awareness, care and choice.
